E-Visas:
The first e.visa, which is the e.s.t.a was created by the United States in 2009 and is still in force today. The most known visas, are the e.visas for Canada, Turkey, India, Thailand, Oman, Egypt, Vietnam, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Australia, New Zealand. An e.visa is an electronic visa that you can obtain exclusively online in a few minutes and which exempts you from going to an embassy to apply for a traditional paper visa.Depending on the country, the e.visa will differ depending on the reason for the trip: Tourism, Business, Family, Study, etc. An e-visa cannot replace a specific visa or a work permit. The validity period of e.visas will vary according to the country ranging from 30 days to 4 years for Canada. Kindly note, the e.visa is linked to the passport with which you made the request, so if the passport expires, your e.visa will be automatically canceled before the end of the period. Some e.visas are single-entry, others multiple-entry (more expensive). Some countries like the USA, Canada, even if you are in transit for a few tens of minutes without leaving the airport requires an e.visa, other countries like Turkey do not ask for it for transits. To fill in the e.visa, you will need the information of your passport and your personal data such as address, profession, etc. The questions will vary according to the country. Moreover, a valid bank card is necessary to confirm the request and make the payment.
The P.L.F, is also called Passenger-locator-form
The public health passenger locator form has indeed existed for decades in paper form. Indeed, each time you flew before the Covid19 pandemic, you had to fill out a cardboard file given by the hostess on the plane before landing with questions such as did you have a fever? which countries have you visited previously?
Since the re-opening of borders, many countries and governments have digitized the p.l.f and made it mandatory such as Canada with ArriveCan, France, Italy, Malta and Slovenia with Euplf, Spain with Spth, the Portugal with the PLC (passenger Locator card), Thailand with Thai Pass, the Dominican Republic with the Eticket, and many others.
Compulsory Travel Insurance
Please note that this insurance, which was previously optional, has become compulsory in more than 41 countries.
Your classic insurance, in particular the master, visa, will not cover in most cases the minimum amount of hospitalization requested in certain countries, the costs of quarantine or any additional accommodation in the event of a positive test before returning, and other costs inherent in the Covid19 pandemic.
Some governments of some countries require an insurance certificate with the mention "Covid", which can guarantee coverage of any on-site costs related to the coronavirus: quarantine in a hotel, repatriation, etc. Note that the verification of the Covid insurance will be done most often at the boarding time and less often at the time of landing. For the moment, 41 countries require Covid insurance.
Travel and Covid insurance obligations will differ according to the country. In the list of the 41 countries, some simply require health insurance without specifying the details. But most countries ask for hospitalization or repatriation costs to be covered in the event you contract the coronavirus there. It is therefore important to check that these insurances mention the coverage of the Covid and make sure that the limits on your bank cards will cover these costs. You must also request a specific certificate with guarantees in the event of Covid.
For the 41 countries concerned by the certification obligation, we advise you to make your request before your trip.
You will find below the list of countries in the world with those in red and an asterix imposing these covid19 insurances before travelling.
